The certification process of Oranjestad as the next Culinary Capital of the Caribbean has begun

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development has started the certification process of Oranjestad to become the next Culinary Capital of the Caribbean as part of the strategy to revitalize the city center.

It is a valuable recognition from the World Food Travel Association (WFTA) that will elevate the position of our city center.
The WFTA's destination certification, or Culinary Capital, is not just a title but a testament to Oranjestad's rich culinary heritage and diversity. The process will put our local cuisine on the world map, promote culinary tourism, and improve the visitor experience.

The application for certification as a Culinary Capital is part of a holistic strategy to revitalize Oranjestad. It includes enhancing safety and ensuring high cleanliness standards, improving the city's visual appeal through beautification projects, and increasing the area's accessibility. Some government departments will also return to our city center to stimulate local businesses. There is also a focus on attracting more visitors by creating a vibrant environment that can host more events and festivals. Ultimately, all this will make our city center more commercially viable.

The certification process involves a comprehensive evaluation of the food quality, the diversity of our offerings, and our commitment to sustainability and local food products.
