Faya Lobi: 200 aña amor fervent den diaspora ('Faya Lobi: 200 years of fiery love in the diaspora')

ORANJESTAD—Curacao author Ange Jessurun traveled to Aruba with many copies of her book, Faya Lobi: 200 Years of Fervent Love in the Diaspora.

This gift is for the library collection. The Dutch translation was also given to the library as a gift. The Dutch version is entitled 'Faya Lobi: 200 jaar vurige liefde in de diaspora.'
Mrs. Jessurun presented his book 'Faya Lobi' in Papiamento and gave a lecture about Papiamento and its roots in Cape Verde at the National Library of Aruba this week.

Ange Jessurun (Curaçao, 1954) has been actively involved in cultural awareness and (native) language proficiency promotion for a long time, paying particular attention to young people.
These themes run like a thread through her life choices and career. She is co-author of several Papiamentu teaching methods and spiritual mother of Arte di Palabra, a successful Papiamentu writing contest for secondary schools. She has also published four anthologies.

Faya Lobi is her first Dutch-language novel based on true stories, memories, and historical documents. The story of her Chinese great-grandfather, who traveled from Hong Kong to Paramaribo in 1865 in search of a better life, was the spark that led her to write down the life story of her parents and ancestors.
