Vaccination program for Influenza and COVID-19 in the neighborhood

ORANJESTAD - The Department of Public Health (DVG) announces that, in connection with their influenza and COVID-19 vaccination campaign, they will be closer to the community to provide their vaccination services.

To protect the at-risk group in our community from becoming very ill, developing complications, or dying due to influenza or COVID-19 infection, they will start offering the annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccines in the neighborhood within the mobile unit of the Crisis Management Office (formerly known as the Bureau Rampenbestrijding).

Those at-risk that can receive the vaccines at the mobile unit are:

  • Adults aged 60 or older.
  • Citizens between the ages of 18 and 59 who, on the advice of a doctor or specialist, get their annual influenza vaccine (with a doctor's prescription). This includes those with obesity (BMI ≥40).
  • Mentally incapacitated adults and children aged 6 months and older (with a doctor's prescription).
  • Adults and children aged 6 months to 59 years with a high medical risk, such as those suffering from illnesses that weaken their immune system (with a doctor's prescription).
  • Pregnant women around 22 weeks. For maximum protection, it is advisable to get vaccinated during the second trimester of pregnancy (with a midwife's prescription).
