Third Edition of the Studentenkamer Project

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD -The Ministry of Education and Sport recently met with Mr. Gilner Dirksen and announced the third edition of the "Studentenkamer" project. It will take place in September at the Gloria Center.

The project began in 2022 when the House of Aruba, located in The Hague in the Netherlands, reported a significant shortage of student housing in the Netherlands and urgently requested the Ministry of Education and Sport to organize information sessions for students continuing their studies in the Netherlands.

The number of refugees arriving in the Netherlands from crisis countries is putting enormous pressure on the already limited number of available housing. Last year, the waiting time to find a room was between 1 and 2 years, but this year, it increased to 2 to 4 years. In cities like Utrecht and Eindhoven,  available rooms are limited, and the waiting time is already between 3 and 4 years.

During the information session, various professional speakers will provide information on topics, including housing in the Netherlands and the challenges of finding accommodation there. The intention is to assist and motivate students to sign up promptly for a student room (studentenkamer).

The Study Facilities section of the Aruba Department of Education (DEA) will provide information on the Aruba student loan and how to apply for this loan, as well as answer questions related to this topic. Paloma Osorio from the Levensplan Foundation will inform students about budget management. Lisanne Sambo–Gomez from Realign Coaching, Consultancy & Services will cover study choice and form filling. Franklin Seute, author and speaker of the book "Living Rich as a Student in the Netherlands," will share various valuable tips, including money management as a student. The Higher Education North America Expo will present the different possibilities for studying in the USA.

Therefore, students from Havo 3, 4, 5, Vwo 4, 5, 6, EPI, Mon Plaisir Havo, De Schakel, and their parents are invited to this information session.
