The workshop Building Resilient Brands: Strategic Communication, Public Relations, and Sustainability in Action was informative

ORANJESTAD - The Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce, and Industry, through its unit of Initiative for Development for Aruban Business (IDEA), organized a workshop: 'Building Resilient Brands: Strategic Communication, Public Relations, and Sustainable in Action' on November 22, 2024.

This workshop covered two topics:

  • Strategic Communication & Public Relations
  • Sustainable in Action

Mrs. Ghislaine de Windt-Kemmerling, an expert in Marketing & Public Relations and currently working at Tierra del Sol Resort & Golf by Iberostar, presented the following contents:

  • Introduction of PR & Communication;
  • Why it is significant what a PR can do for your company, and a couple of examples of good PR;
  • Difference between Strategies vs. PR Campaigns
  • Three types of media that we know in PR and three types of audiences, how to communicate with each of them;
  • PR Key Metrics;
  • How to implement a PR strategy that generates potential clients, makes your brand famous, and creates a community:
  • Using PR to increase traffic to your website;
  • How to manage and measure the success of a PR and communications plan;
  • Write press releases and generate stories;
  • Generate authority and intellectual leadership through the media;

At the end of this session, Mrs. Ghislaine did a quiz with the group to see if they understood the material presented and also presented a couple of scenarios of 'Crisis Management' as a small activity for them to discuss in groups.

Mrs. Dae Hereira, a sustainability expert currently working at Iberostar, presented the following:

  • Sustainability practices in Aruba in waste management, food/agriculture, the environment, transport, community, and information fields;
  • Linear Economy: What it entails, the current model, and emphasized each part of the current model.
  • Disposal and waste;
  • Watching 'The Story of Stuff' on YouTube was suggested to learn more about this subject. 
  • The question to the group: Do you know where your waste ends up?
  • Explained the current recycling system in Aruba;
  • How can we reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle in Aruba? 
  • Plastic recycling service in Aruba;
  • Explained the importance of the circular economy and its components;
  • Recommendation to visit Arubazerowaste.com.

In the end, Dae Hereira put a lot of emphasis on the environment.

During and after the presentation, the speakers answered all the participants questions. The answers received were satisfactory and understandable.
This workshop was at the Department of Economic Affairs, and 20 people participated.
