The Governor receives representation from the National Autism Commission

ORANJESTAD - On Tuesday morning, February 11, the Governor of Aruba, His Excellency Alfonso Boekhoudt, received a representation from the National Autism Commission for an introductory meeting at the Governor's Office.

The representation consisted of Mrs. Thiel-Span - Chair of the National Autism Commission, Mrs. Moreta - child and youth psychiatrist at Respaldo and also member of the National Autism Commission, and Mrs. Schoppema - Head of the Multidisciplinary Center Office and member of the National Autism Commission.

The National Autism Commission is committed to improving policy and care for people with autism spectrum disorder in Aruba. With representation from various organizations within healthcare, education, and the social sector, they have drawn up a list of priorities that map out this target group's principal challenges and needs.

During the meeting with the Governor, the committee members shared recommendations for laying a solid foundation for a more inclusive society.
