"Studenten Commissie Aruba" officially installed at Arubahuis
ORANJESTAD – A ceremony was recently held at Arubahuis to officially install the Student Committee Aruba (Studenten Commissie Aruba - SCA) first members.
This event took place in the presence of outgoing Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, outgoing Minister Plenipotentiary Ady Thijsen, Director of Arubahuis Joselin Croes, mentors, representatives of the Ministry of OC&W, and Arubahuis staff.
The SCA has seven (7) members appointed following an application process. The members – from different regions – are: Roderick W. Atmowirono, Chloe Manon Ruiz, Alejandra Mc Bene Courtar Moreno, Nathan Perez, Emile Lambrinos, Tai Kon Ashley Trimon-Lee, and Delaiah Edilianne Tromp.
On this occasion, outgoing Minister Plenipotentiary Ady Thijsen emphasized the importance of having a student organization that understands the student community and can report back to Arubahuis.
The idea to establish the SCA resulted from various brainstorming sessions and surveys. These revealed that students want to be heard and have a stronger voice in the management, planning, and guidance of Aruban students in the Netherlands.
SCA aims to advise Arubahuis on matters of interest to Aruban students in the Netherlands. Additionally, the SCA will help strengthen the ties between Arubahuis and the students and support Arubahuis with ideas for organizing meetings, workshops, job fairs, and providing information to students.
The members of the SCA have been appointed from February 7, 2025, to December 31, 2026. After that, a new application process will begin to appoint new members for the next one-year term.
