Share Seeds
ORANJESTAD – The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries (Santa Rosa) is asking for the community’s cooperation, especially from "Friends of Santa Rosa," in donating any fruit or vegetable seeds they may have.
Santa Rosa has a planting program in collaboration with Scol pa Ofishi, where they provide seedlings, fertilizer, and various types of seeds for children to use as educational materials for horticulture lessons. Once the plants grow, they are returned to Santa Rosa to be sold to the community. This initiative helps reduce the import of fruit plants from abroad, lowering the carbon footprint while encouraging young people to actively contribute to a sustainable agriculture.
Santa Rosa aims to establish its very own seed bank, which is why they continuously emphasize the importance of collecting and preserving natural seeds for future planting.
Those who wish to contribute fruit and vegetable seeds can drop them off with Mrs. Carola Geerman or call 5858102 for more information.
Santa Rosa thanks the community for their contribution to their seed bank.
