Revitalization of Oranjestad phase 3 begins in the Lagoen area.
ORANJESTAD – On October 1, 2024, the groundbreaking for Phase 3 of the revitalization of Oranjestad began in the Lagoen area, specifically at the intersection of Irenestraat and Caya Mario E. Harms.
This phase entails the complete renovation of the area, including the parking spaces, taxi stand expansion, improved lighting, and the installation of charging electric car stations. The new charging stations will provide the capacity for four electric vehicles to charge simultaneously.
The expectation is to complete this project by the first week of December 2024, which is part of the holistic effort for Oranjestad maintenance and revitalization. Phases 1 and 2, which involved the beautification of Wilhelminastraat, are already completed. The renovation of Cas Veneranda is progressing according to plan, fulfilling efforts to bring more government departments back to the city center.
Phase 3 aims to support private investments already made and those planned to begin in the area. It is part of the vision to classify Oranjestad as a culinary city, bringing more traffic, pedestrians, and commercial profitability in a safer and more accessible environment.
