Reminder for the process of renewing a health certificate

ORANJESTAD - The Department of Food Inspection and Hygiene (DWH) of the Public Health Department, responsible for issuing health certificates, also known as "green card," informs as follows. 

According to the Personnel Decree Food Regulations AB 1995 no. GT 2, every person working in the food and/or beverage industry must have a valid and visible health certificate (formerly the green card), as prescribed. The health certificate must be valid and visible to the inspectors of the DWH section of the Public Health Department.
To obtain a health certificate (formerly a green card), a person must meet the following requirements:

For an initial application:

  • Visit the Department of Food Inspection and Hygiene section of the Public Health Department at Dr. Oduberstraat 1;
  • the person must identify themselves with a valid Aruban identity card;
  • or with a valid passport or driver's license with an extract of inscription in the Civil Registry of Afl. 5,00 not older than six months,-
  • then proceed to the finance office of the Department of Public Health and pay Afl. 30,-.

For renewal:

  • Visit the Department of Food Inspection and Hygiene section of the Public Health Department at Dr. Oduberstraat 1;
  • the person must identify themselves with a valid identity card;
  • then proceed to the finance office of the Department of Public Health and pay Afl. 30,-.

Required tests  :

  • A test in a laboratory for which Afl. 40,- must be paid for a feces (stool) test, with the stool to be submitted within two days from the start of the process.
  • Thorax test (X-ray). For persons aged 18 and above,  a chest X-ray. For this test, one must go to a hospital, ImSan, or Urgent Care for an X-ray, which involves a fee.

After ten working days from when the person submitted the stool sample to the laboratory, they can go to the Department of Food Inspection and Hygiene section of the Public Health Department to collect the Health Certificate (formerly Green Card). The health certificate is valid for one year, with the expiration date stated on the certificate.
