Procedure for Traveling with a Minor Child

ORANJESTAD - On June 18, 2024, the director of Immigration Aruba (IA), Mr. Andrew Hoo, during a press conference, reminded everyone planning to travel with a minor child during the school vacation of some essential details.

Every year, Immigration Aruba faces various cases where parents do not have the necessary documents to travel with a minor child. Therefore, the permission form has been available on the government website for two years, which you can download before traveling with a minor child.

The procedure is necessary because Aruba must comply with international regulations against human trafficking and smuggling. The child must also be protected against, for example, abduction.

Anyone who wishes to travel with a minor child must fill out the form "Permission to travel with a minor child." This way, it can be shown at immigration control that there is indeed permission to travel with the minor child.

Once you download the form, you must fill it out completely.

Along with the form, you must submit the following documents:

  • Copy of the passport of the person giving permission (parent/guardian);
  • Copy of the passport of the accompanying person;
  • Copy of the passport of the minor child;
  • If applicable, a copy of the valid residence permit;
  • If applicable, a copy of the custody register;
  • Copy of the return ticket.

In addition, it is possible to submit the birth certificate of the minor child; however, this is not necessary if you meet the above requirements. You must bring the form and all other documents to the main office of Immigration Aruba for verification and stamping.

Immigration Aruba urges every parent/person to consider that this process may take time during the busy vacation season. Therefore, it is urgently requested to submit the form and all necessary documents at least four days before departure. This way, you can avoid complications or missed flights can be avoided.

The policy instruction provides further information. Immigration Aruba will publish more information in the coming days.
