Presentation of the “Family Friendly Workplaces” initiative.

ORANJESTAD – On April 3, 2025, the Minister of Social Affairs, Public Health, Elderly Care, and Addiction Management, Drs. Mervin Wyatt-Ras received a presentation on the “Family Friendly Workplace” initiative from the international partners working with the Pedagogical Vision Commission.

The Department of Social Affairs chairs his commission, which consists of five organizations that work daily on parental support. These are Fundacion Pa Nos Muchanan, Fundacion Respeta Mi, Tienda di Educacion and Wit Gele Kruis Aruba.

This week, a three-day workshop series took place, designed to collect information from the private, governmental, non-governmental, and union sectors. This initiative stands as a testament to the power of collaboration. All sectors understand that parents carry many responsibilities and face the significant challenge of balancing work and family life.

Thanks to the financial support of the Dutch National Postcode Lottery, Aruba is receiving technical assistance from a team of world-renowned experts such as Mrs. Ytske van Winden of UNICEF Netherlands, Mrs. Laurie Markle, Mrs. Ana Pro, and Dr. Jenny Doubt of Parenting for Lifelong Health, and Mrs. Fatmah Alkaabi, who leads the “Parent-Friendly Label program” in Abu Dhabi.

Aruba benefits from solid technical support to make this initiative a reality. A project like this will have a significant impact on families and the Aruban community at large.
