Presentation of five books by Mr. Herbert I. Díaz, "Power"

ORANJESTAD—The National Library of Aruba invites everyone to attend the presentation of five books by Mr. Herbert I. Díaz. These books address the topic of power from different angles and perspectives.

The presentation takes place on Thursday, April 24, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. and is in Papiamento, but the books are in English.
People frequently take the concept of power for granted. In essence, it is a simple concept, but in practice, it is complex.

The French philosopher Michel Foucault asserts that power exists in all spheres and levels of human endeavor. Because of this, it's a subject that everyone ought to understand.

Herbert I. Díaz wrote five volumes on this fascinating and essential subject.

  • A Brief Exploration of Power: Personal, Societal, and Global. It explores power from various perspectives, identifying consciousness, culture, worldviews, values, and ego as potential areas where social problems arise.
  • Boosting Power in Organizations: Understanding and Improving the Strength of Production and Service Administrations.  It focuses on how power can be used to reach success in organizations. It lays the groundwork for a theory and practice about the positive and effective use of power in particularly production and service organizations.
  • A Praxeology of Power for Organizations and Businesses. It explores human action and purposeful behavior, offering an original power practice theory and an appraisal model for organizations to evaluate their capabilities before executing strategic and operational plans.
  • Cultivating Dynamics, Values, and Meaning; Navigating Organizational Culture, Identity, and Power. It explores organizational culture, introducing the author’s Kaleidoscope Model as a classification framework, especially useful for understanding ethnically diverse work groups.
  • The Mindset Behind Power Actions: A Focus on the Psychological and Mental Frameworks that Drive Decisive Performances. It explores the influence of attitudes and ideas on an individual’s thinking and behavior, highlighting the necessary characteristics for success and potential obstacles to its implementation.
