Pilot Project for Hot Meal Delivery for the Elderly

ORANJESTAD – The Ministry of Elderly Affairs, in collaboration with the Fundacion pa Nos Comunidad (FPNC), introduced a crucial pilot project for seniors.

This pilot project, which will take place over a period of 4 months, involves the delivery of hot meals to a vulnerable group of individuals aged 65 and older, registered with FPNC, who do not have sufficient income to secure a daily meal for themselves.

The Ministry of Elderly Affairs is aware of the growing group of seniors without a fixed income or with limited income, which causes them to suffer from food insecurity and malnutrition. The collaboration with FPNC for this pilot project will help improve the quality of life for our elders.
The project will start with daily hot meal deliveries during the week, and additionally, it will include a breakfast package twice a week. Initially, the project will assist at least 50 elderly individuals around Aruba in its first phase, with plans to expand the project.

Caring for our elderly is of utmost importance to our community. Social organization's collaboration and support can help address food insecurity among our society's most vulnerable.
The Ministry of Elderly Affairs, together with FPNC, will work with partners such as the Voedselbank to coordinate with restaurants to prepare meals to meet the needs of each participant in the best possible way. This pilot project will be closely monitored to evaluate how to encourage greater participation.

In this way, not only can the continuation of the project be secured in the long term, but also the number of vulnerable elderly individuals who can be assisted will increase, ensuring that our elderly can live longer in their own homes, which many of them desire.
