National Archive Aruba with a fast internet connection that facilitates the digitization and preservation of historical documents

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - Recently, the National Archive Aruba (ANA) announced that SETAR NV has completed the installation of fiber optic cables.

It allowsANA to have a fast internet connection that facilitates the digitization, preservation, and accessibility of documents and videos containing Aruba's history on www.coleccion.aw.
ANA is part of the 'Coleccion Aruba' platform, in which various institutions in Aruba collaborate to make their information digitally accessible via www.coleccion.aw. The fast internet connection will help ANA digitize historical documents more quickly using Transkribus, a program that uses Artificial Intelligence to read historical documents' handwriting. The uploading digitized information to the internet via Archive.org, the server that makes www.coleccion.aw accessible online, will also become more efficient.

ANA has already placed 140,000 historical objects on www.coleccion.aw, and with a faster internet connection, this number can exceed 150,000 within a few weeks. By the end of 2024, ANA will likely have more than 200,000 objects containing historical information on www.coleccion.aw.

The collaboration between SETAR NV and ANA contributes to the preservation and accessibility of Aruba's cultural heritage and demonstrates SETAR's commitment to keeping Aruba's culture alive.
