Nathalie Maduro was elected the first President of the Dutch Caribbean Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries Alliance (DCALFA).

ORANJESTAD - Nathalie Maduro, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Breeding, and Fisheries (LVV), has become the first President of the Dutch Caribbean Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries Alliance (DCALFA).

This appointment is a historic step for the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sector in the Dutch Caribbean, and a great recognition of Mrs. Maduro's leadership.

DCALFA is a cooperation platform that unites Bonaire, Curaçao, Sint Eustatius, Saba, Sint Maarten, and Aruba to address critical issues such as food security, environmental sustainability, and economic development.

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) led the effort, which was first introduced as the "Dutch Caribbean Visioning Process (DCVP)" in March 2022 with assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Nature (LVVN). The goals were to fortify cooperation among the islands and create a platform capable of formulating a strategic plan to ensure food security and foster economic growth in each island's primary industry.

Under Mrs. Maduro's leadership, DCALFA will focus on sustainability and education projects, promote agriculture in schools, and stimulate local consumption.

"The future of our industry depends on the next generation of farmers, fishermen, and entrepreneurs. Mrs. Maduro emphasized that we are committed to providing opportunities for young people to participate, whether through education, training, or innovative initiatives.

With Mrs. Maduro at the helm, DCALFA is ready to lead the region into a new era of excellence in agriculture and fisheries.
