Minister of Finance meets with international capital market investors.

ORANJESTAD - Recently, Minister of Finance and Culture Xiomara Maduro traveled to the United States, accompanied by a delegation of financial experts.

They met with investors on the international capital market in preparation for the issuance of international bonds by Aruba to refinance Aruba's debt maturing in 2024. During the meeting, foreign financial firms like Santander and Citi provided technical help to Minister Maduro.
The minister met with 12 institutional investors in 5 different cities in the United States, including insurance companies, investment funds, pension funds, and companies that manage large capitals. All are major and well-known investors in the international capital market who showed great interest in investing in Aruba's international bonds.
Minister Maduro and her team provided an extensive presentation on Aruba's latest economic and financial developments, including information on economic and financial recovery, debt management, the reforms taking place within the framework of the Landspakket, Aruba's plan to address the financial challenges of climate change, information on ongoing investments, and an overview of the financial performance of Aruba's state-owned companies.
The upcoming issuance by Aruba is not to increase debt but to refinance it. Aruba's debt will decrease again in 2024, as the government will also use the funds from the 2024 budget surplus to pay off the country's debt.
The investors showed interest in the issuance, and the next step will be to obtain authorization from the Council of Ministers of the Kingdom based on Article 29 of the Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands so that the transactions can begin.
