Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the Royal Schiphol Group

ORANJESTAD  – The Government of Aruba signed on April 10, 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that paves the way for the continuation and strengthening of the strategic partnership between Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) and Schiphol International B.V.

The MOU is a significant step toward the sustainable development of airport infrastructure, bolstering tourism and economic prosperity for Aruba. It also ends a standoff during the previous administration.

With this agreement, both parties reaffirm their shared belief in the fundamental importance of cooperation between AAA and Schiphol for the general interest of Aruba. 

Key agreements in the MOU include:

  • A joint commitment to good corporate governance and the development of local Aruban talent through training opportunities in cooperation with Schiphol (Academy), including the provision of training programs in Aruba by Schiphol (Academy);
  • Aruba’s intention to grant an exemption by national decree from the salary norm regulation for the CEO and other Executive Officers of AAA;
  • The opportunity for Schiphol to nominate a binding member to the Supervisory Board of AAA;
  • The active participation of the government in the discussions between AAA and Schiphol on extending the strategic partnership agreement. 

Prime Minister of Aruba, Mike Eman, the Minister of Tourism, Wendrick Cecilia, the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Geoffrey Wever, and the Director of Schiphol International B.V., Kjell Kloosterziel, signed the MOU.
