Food garden at IPA
ORANJESTAD - On Saturday, March 16, 2024, students from the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA) joined forces to plant their food garden as part of the agroforestry project.
This day coincides with various projects at IPA, such as Aruba Doet and Cuida mi IPA.
The participation of the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA) in the agroforestry project is a step in our future teacher's formation. It provides them with the necessary tools to teach about sustainable agriculture and food security. In this way, we inspire the next generation about protecting our environment and providing for our needs. The preparation for the start of planting included a presentation on the practice of agroforestry, giving students and teachers a deeper insight into the benefits and maintenance of the food garden. The participation of various teachers emphasizes IPA's commitment to integral education that is applicable in real life.
According to Minister Ursell Arends, responsible for the Primary Sector, the agroforestry introduction in our schools is a significant step in incorporating sustainable agriculture practices into the education of our youth. Investment in our teachers is also in our island and our children's future.
The fruits of the project are already visible in the dedication of the school community, the tireless efforts of volunteers, and the support of project partners such as Santa Rosa and Living Soil.
