Enjoy and learn more about Aruba monuments at the National Archaeological Museum.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - The Monument Fund Foundation of Aruba (SMFA) is leading and organizing various events to highlight International Monuments Day on September 15.

The National Archaeological Museum Aruba (MANA) is also part of the Monumental Tour, which includes 13 monuments open to the public this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. At MANA, elementary school participants can get their stamp in their cultural passport, and at the end of the day, in front of the Post Office in Playa, the winner of the monumental tour will be announced.

The historic buildings part of MANA were legally declared protected monuments in 2010. Each has its own cultural history, beauty, and architecture. Present at MANA will be two grandchildren of Dundun Ecury, who will share their memories of their grandparents and the different buildings. Only this Sunday, the first floor of Cas Dundun will be open to the public with its impressive balcony of Cas di Mamachi, and the bedrooms of Boy and Nicky Ecury will be open for viewing.

Additionally, visitors can watch the documentary “Dada Picus,” produced by Rebecca Roos Productions and co-financed by UNOCA. Dada Picus worked on various monuments in Aruba and is a recognized architect with a unique style.

Archaeologist Raymundo Dijkhoff will give a brief lecture on the land and underwater archaeological monuments at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
MANA also provides an opportunity to raise funds for a good cause, and this time, the group, “Hunto mane un famia,” will ensure a well-stocked bar and kitchen. They will offer a soup festival, local snacks, popcorn, and delicious lime juice.

Throughout the day, there will be various activities for children, such as face painting, a sensory box, and performances by different traditional bands on the plaza in front of MANA and the Monumentenbureau, which will also be open to the public. Come and explore more than 13 monuments in Playa and enjoy a wonderful time with family and friends.
