Drs. Andy Lee was sworn in as a Member of the Council of State for Aruba
ORANJESTAD - On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, drs. Rendolf A. (Andy) Lee was sworn in before His Majesty King Willem-Alexander at Noordeinde Palace as the new Council of State member for Aruba.
Over the last six years, Mrs. Milly Schwengle held this position and represented Aruba with dignity, doing an excellent job.
Andy Lee has an extensive professional background and is a suitable choice as the representative of an independent commission appointed to nominate him to represent Aruba in this role. Based on this recommendation, the Kingdom Council of Ministers approved his nomination on Friday, November 24, 2023,
Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes expressed satisfaction that Aruba now has a representative in the Council of State, with the qualities and extensive experience that Mr. Lee possesses, to make the best decisions for Aruba's well-being.
Rendolf Andy Lee is a political scientist with over 30 years of experience in the public and semi-public sectors in Aruba, Curaçao, and Washington. He served as Director of CBS Aruba, Manager of the Research Department of the Central Bank of Aruba, as well as a member of Parliament from 2005 to 2011, where he acted as Parliament President from 2009 to 2010. Later, Mr. Lee held the position of Plenipotentiary Minister in Washington for Aruba and served as an advisor to the Prime Minister between 2018 and 2020.
After his swearing-in last Wednesday, Mr. Lee began working at the Council of State for Aruba.
