DOW launches irisGO road patrol program

ORANJESTAD - On  November 25, the Department of Public Works (DOW) launched the project "irisGO".

This innovative system will help DOW detect the state of roads in Aruba.

For some time now, the Government of Aruba has been working for DOW to get funds to repair roads. It budgeted 18 million florins annually to invest in it and allocated it in the 2025 budget.

"irisGO" is an automated road patrol system powered by AI (Artificial Intelligence) that makes intelligent inspection and detects, among other things, road conditions, sidewalks, signs, graffiti, and trees that obstruct traffic. "irisGO" works through a device installed in a car, which consists of a camera system that scans the area. Aruba is the first country in the Caribbean to have this system, where valuable data is collected. DOW schedules the tasks received from the system and puts them in the daily routines.

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes commends DOW for being current with technology and for such a creative effort for Aruba's well-being.
