Control on sale of vapes to youth under 21 years old

ORANJESTAD – The Santa Cruz Community Police, together with the Permits Department Police (SBV) and Uniformed Police, have started a control and awareness campaign regarding vape sales.

Given the out-of-control situation and the health problems caused by vape use, the KPA has decided to carry out strict controls across Aruba.

The main goal is to raise awareness among vendors regarding the sale of vape products. The Tobacco Law (Landsverordening Beperking Tabaksproducten) prohibits the sale of vapes to youth under the age of 21. Additionally, vaping is illegal for anyone younger than 21.
As part of this prevention and awareness campaign, the Police Force invited the Department of Public Health (DVG) and the Aruba Anti-Drug Foundation (FADA) to participate in the control action.

Over the weekend, they carried out controls on several vendors in the Santa Cruz district. The police, along with DVG and FADA, visited various establishments to inspect, inform, and raise awareness among vendors about the consequences of selling vapes to minors under 21.

Each department took the opportunity to explain and warn the vendors about the applicable fines and also emphasized why it is prohibited to sell to minors under 21 and that youth are not allowed to use vapes either.
