Children's Book Festival 2024: Dushi Cabesura!
ORANJESTAD - The National Library of Aruba presents its annual Children's Book Festival. The theme for 2024 is 'DUSHI CABESURA!'. Every year, they choose a new theme to give the festival a different atmosphere and encourage children to read more books.
The Children's Book Festival lasts a week and occurs in the first week of November. The festival always opens with a big party on Sunday, November 3, 2024. In the week from November 4 to 8, many authors from Aruba, the Netherlands, Curaçao, Bonaire, St. Maarten, and St. Eustatius will visit our schools to tell stories in the classroom and at the library, while illustrators will give presentations on how they illustrate stories for children. In this way, they try to inspire the children to read more, read together, and visit the library more often. Library membership is free for all children and young people under 18 years.
Many children's book authors will visit more than 50 schools. From Aruba, these are: Liliana Braamskamp-Erasmus, Vanessa Paulina, Irmgard Frans, Emerita Emerencia, Ariana Koolman, Gino Vrolijk, and Robert Reeberg. From Bonaire, the library presents Segni Bernadina. From Curaçao, we welcome: Tio Ali, Mercee Doran, and Crisen Schorea. From the Netherlands, Danielle Schothorst, Maria Karg, and Sanne Rooseboom. Misha Spanner (storyteller) will participate in the festival in Aruba for the second time and from St. Eustatius. From St. Maarten, we have Ralph Cantave.
The National Library of Aruba invites all children to read more stories and books. The library collection includes several books with stories about slightly rebellious, perhaps a bit naughty characters, about children with perseverance, children who like to make their own decisions, and who love adventure.
