Celebration of SDG Week 2024, let's commit to action
ORANJESTAD - The National SDG Commission in Aruba announces that during the week of September 19 to 25, 2024, SDG Week will be celebrated.
This week is the launch of a campaign to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We invite all companies, non-profit organizations, the public sector, and individuals to join and contribute to a more sustainable future for Aruba. Change for a better Aruba is only possible when we all commit together.
Which SDG will you commit to for a year?
The National SDG Commission invites every individual, company, or non-profit organization to choose their preferred SDG and commit to working on it over a year. You can do this by filling out the Pledge Form via the following link: https://forms.gle/gx7YJfsCRWC9PnQK6, available on the SDG Aruba Facebook and Instagram pages.
Share your best practices and inspire others.
We invite the public to share their best practices and success stories related to SDGs on social media and tag SDG Aruba using the hashtags #SDGAruba and #SDGWeekAruba2024. By sharing best practices and achievements on social media we inspire others to contribute to our country and the world's sustainability.

What are the SDGs or the Global Sustainable Development Goals?
Sustainability is often confused with only the environment, tackling climate change, or solely recycling. However, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations cover much more! Working on one or more of the SDGs helps improve life for everyone, not just in the environmental area but also in social well-being, prosperity, and peace.
The 17 goals are interconnected and divided into 5 pillars that are fundamental for achieving a sustainable future:
- People: Aiming to end poverty and hunger, health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, and equality for all.
- Planet: Focusing on the critical contribution nature provides to human life and recognizing the current state of our environment: clean water, climate action, life below water, life on land, and clean and affordable energy.
- Prosperity: Ensuring everyone can enjoy a prosperous and fulfilling life and that economic, social, and technological progress goes hand in hand, including clean and affordable energy, decent work and economic growth, innovation and infrastructure, reducing inequality, responsible production and consumption, sustainable cities and communities.
- Peace: Emphasizes inclusive and just societies where peace prevails, providing access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.
- Partnership: Calls for strengthening the means of implementation and building and improving partnerships with various stakeholders.
Only by uniting can we achieve a stronger, fairer, sustainable, and enjoyable country for all.
