Book "Roxy, mi dushi bida"
ORANJESTAD - In connection with the Book Festival from November 6 to 10, 2023, at the National Library of Aruba, author Denise de Jongh-Rekwest presents a new book, "Roxy, mi dushi bida" (Roxy, my sweet life), a story told from the perspective of her pet dog, Roxy.
The story aligns with this year's children's book festival theme, 'Na mi Kas' (At My Home). Denise aims to make children more aware of the care and attention needed for pets like Roxy.
Denise de Jongh-Rekwest was born in Curaçao, has close family ties to Aruba, and has lived on Bonaire for many years. She has a daughter, Kaylee, the inspiration for her "Kaylee" book series.
After studying and working in tourism, she started her own training and consultancy business. She provides various training programs, including service, communication, team building, and etiquette. In 2008, Denise wrote and published her first etiquette book for children, "Kaylee i su primunan ku fakansi na Kòrsou."
In 2010, her comic book, 'Gino y Gina, amigo di curason,' was released as a gift book in Aruba in connection with the Children's Book Festival. In total, Denise has written 18 books on her own and published 20 books for various other authors and institutions in Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, and the Netherlands through Request Publishing, her own publishing company. In addition to writing books for children, Denise enjoys reading, photography, and painting.
