Baki den Bario Barcadera in March and April 2025

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD – As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen waste management and transition to a circular economy, Baki den Bario returns to Barcadera for two collection days: March 8 and April 5, 2025.

Prepare all waste in advance and separate it to facilitate the collection process. The types of waste accepted separately include metal, electronic waste (e-waste), cardboard, green waste (grass and plants), construction waste, tires, used cooking oil, and bulk waste.

Baki den Bario Barcadera will take place from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m., with an extra-hour extension depending on traffic. The collection site is along the Barcadera road, just before reaching Arugas.
The government continues its efforts to establish a robust waste management system. The goal is a cleaner, more sustainable, and more responsible Aruba. A systematic approach to waste separation is essential, ensuring that people, the planet, and prosperity remain central to waste management strategies.

The University of Georgia, Impact Blue Foundation, and the Government of Aruba are conducting a study to gain deeper insights into plastic usage in the community. The Circular Assessment Protocol (CAP) provides a clear picture of the island’s circularity. It supplies data to support informed decision-making regarding reducing street litter (such as single-use plastics) and increasing circular material management.
