106 inmates at the Correctional Institute received certificates

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - A ceremony was recently held at the Correctional Institute Aruba (KIA), during which 106 inmates who completed courses provided by the Foundation for Education in Aruba (FEPA) received their certificates.

As a country, it is essential to invest in the successful reintegration of inmates. The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), which regularly audits Aruba, requires this, among other things.

They developed an integrated plan to determine which courses could be offered to the inmates, considering their level of education and interests. It includes these courses: small business, basic knowledge of calculation and accounting, manicure and pedicure, basic and advanced conga lessons, sales and marketing, and basic horticulture. With a certificate, the inmates have a better opportunity for reintegration into the labor market and society.

Minister of Tourism Rocco Tjon is grateful to the Foundation for Education in Aruba (FEPA), for providing various courses to the inmates at KIA.
