The Venezuelan administration acts against the representation of European nations.
ORANJESTAD: The Dutch, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are among the European nations that the Venezuelan government has taken action against by restricting the number of diplomats stationed there to three.
The only employees at the embassy will continue to be the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and two accredited persons, in addition to local employees. Within 48 hours, other Dutch employees must depart Venezuela. The only goal of this action is to cut diplomatic personnel for the time being.
Visa applications will still be handled in Caracas, and consular services for our citizens will be available.
It is unclear whether this is the only measure against the Netherlands and other countries or if more actions are to be expected. The Kingdom of the Netherlands remains alert and prepared for various scenarios.
