The Police Department now has Police Duty Officers (OvD-P).
ORANJESTAD - Recently, an intensive OvD-P (Police Duty Officer) course was held in Aruba, attended by officers from the Aruba Police Force, Curaçao, the Dutch Caribbean, and Sint Maarten.
The course focused on supervising decision-making at the scene of an incident, and leading and collaborating with other departments. During the course, various departments worked together, including the Police Department (KPA), the Crisis Management Office (CMO), the Ambulance Service, and the Fire Department. In the OvD-P course, participants were presented with various scenarios to test their practical skills in realistic situations based on the theoretical knowledge they had gained. Mr. Cees van Es and Mr. Ronald Brans-Brabant, instructors from the Dutch Police Academy, gave the course. It consisted of both theoretical and practical components over two weeks.
The participants received their certificates in the presence of interim Chief Commissioner Mr. Robert Candelaria. Along with their certificates, the graduates proudly received their OvD-P jackets.
Of the 16 participants, 13 earned their certificates, and the participating police forces now have well-trained officers to handle any situation that may arise.
