The government meets with the founder of the "Internet Archive."
ORANJESTAD - Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, Minister Xiomara Maduro, and Minister Endy Croes, along with the director of the National Archives, Mr. Raymond Hernandez, and the director of the National Library, Mrs. Astrid Britten, recently had a meeting with the founder of the "Internet Archive," Mr. Brewster Kahle, and the director of Library Services of the Internet Archive, Mr. Chris Freeland.
A significant topic was digitization and how to achieve a digital library in Papiamento to preserve our language and make it accessible to more people.
Mr. Kahle is a pioneer in the field of digital preservation and access. He is a digital librarian and the founder and director of the Internet Archive. Founded in 1996, the Internet Archive is a free digital library that archives documents from the World Wide Web and makes them universally accessible.
The Internet Archive has become one of the largest and most influential digital libraries globally, with wide-ranging materials such as books, websites, music, videos, and much more. Mr. Kahle's dedication to preserving digital heritage and promoting universal access to information has received widespread recognition and praise in the technology field, library science, and many others.
The Prime Minister thanked her colleagues, the director of the National Archives, the director of the National Library, and Mr. Kahle and Mr. Freeland, who presented valuable information.
