ORANJESTAD - The global awareness campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence got underway on Monday, November
In cooperation with the Aruba government, the Commission Against Domestic Violence assembled at the government building and, in a short ceremony, illuminated it with orange light. In her statement at the ceremony, Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes expressed gratitude to all those employed by commissions, departments, and organizations that are making every effort to stop violence against women and girls. Mrs. Magaly Maduro, president of the committee, also gave a brief speech.
The Government of Aruba supports the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and joins the global campaign Orange the World. It serves as a reminder of the difficulties we confront and our shared responsibility as a society and as a government to uphold the rights and dignity of every person, particularly our children and the most vulnerable members of our community.
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign that begins on November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and lasts until December 10, Human Rights Day. This program serves as a potent reminder of the pressing need to eradicate violence, advance equality, and assist those who have endured it. It also raises worldwide awareness to inspire people and communities to take action.
This year's theme encourages us to reflect on our responsibility to end violence in all its forms and invites us to consider our duty to eradicate all forms of violence. As a unified society, we take pride in our dedication to creating a secure and joyful environment for everyone, and we stand together both in solidarity and in action. It is an opportunity to raise awareness, advocate for change, and especially to listen to the voices of those who suffer in silence.
