More lighting for improved visibility and safety in downtown Oranjestad

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - Following the initial installation of 50 light poles last year, the government will install an additional 100 lighting poles.

The goal is to improve visibility and safety in our downtown area by installing. This project is part of the holistic strategy to rejuvenate Oranjestad and create a safer and more attractive environment for all residents, visitors, and entrepreneurs.

The Minister of Economic Affairs, Communication, and Sustainable Development, Geoffrey Wever, has indicated awareness of the challenges in our downtown area of Oranjestad and is making every effort to create the necessary conditions to address them and attract more investment and life to Oranjestad. This investment aims at improving safety during the evening hours to stimulate the development of entertainment and nightlife in the downtown area.

The government considers that Oranjestad can become the next destination where everyone wants to go and to achieve this, it is necessary to invest in infrastructure, environment, and entertainment opportunities. Efforts are underway to create vibrant spaces with more life and activity, attracting locals and tourists to enjoy what Oranjestad offers.

The plan is to install the lighting by the middle of this year.
