Prime Ministers of Aruba, Curacao, and St. Maarten attend the United Nations conference.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD -Prime Minister of Aruba, Evelyn Wever-Croes, Vice-Prime Minister of Curacao Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia, and Prime Minister of St. Maarten Silveria Jacobs attend the Conference of the United Nations 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women.

During this session that started on March 11, 2024, they will address women’s empowerment and gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide and in the Caribbean.

Last week we celebrated International Women’s Day. Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes states that during all the meetings she attended on March 8, 2024, women expressed their wish for their voices to be heard and to see more women’s participation in our community. A recent Central Bureau of Statistics survey shows that 90% of participants want more women in government and parliament positions.

Unfortunately, in Aruba, the rate of violence against girls and women is still a considerable problem.
The Commission on Status of Women conference at the United Nations will address all these issues. Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes attend the two days of the conference and will make a statement in the name of the Dutch Kingdom. She will also meet with the institutes that assist us in the fight for women's rights, the UN Women and the World Bank.

“It is always good to demonstrate what our people of Aruba are doing in this field, in the public sector, academic sector, volunteer organizations, and NGOs. And it is important to listen to what can be done and the assistance we can receive to achieve our goals", Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes stated.
