Prime Minister shares Aruba’s vision and plans for e-government.
ORANJESTAD – Outgoing Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes is attending the “Commission on the Status of Women” (CSW69) conference at the United Nations in New York. The Prime Minister is representing Aruba and leading the Kingdom’s delegation, which includes Ambassador Lise Gregoire, the Dutch State Secretary for OCW, Mariëlle Paul, and Sint Maarten’s Plenipotentiary Minister, Gracita Arrindell.
During the CSW69 conference, the Prime Minister spoke at various events, including “Women and Technology: Inspiring Stories in the GCC Countries,” organized by Arab nations. Here, she shared Aruba’s ambitious vision and plans for digitalization and the role of women in this process.
She elaborated on the impact of women in technology and innovation and shared Aruba’s journey in digital transformation, guided by a commitment to inclusion, innovation, and progress. Additionally, she highlighted the introduction of e-government, a vision aimed at digitalizing public services and modernizing governance. She also emphasized the European Union’s €14 million funding, which will not only strengthen technological infrastructure but also enhance digital inclusion and cybersecurity in Aruba.
The Change Management Plan developed in collaboration with the Estonia e-Governance Academy will be published in the coming weeks. This will pave the way for implementing a platform that will integrate the systems of the Civil Registry Department, the DIMAS, and the Tax Department. The goal is to have more than 30% of government services interoperable by 2026, ensuring faster, more efficient, and citizen-focused service delivery.
While technology drives transformation, leadership drives change. Aruba remains committed to promoting female leadership in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), digital governance, and innovation. As we work towards a more digitally inclusive future, we must ensure that technology empowers, connects, and uplifts every member of society. Together, we must shape a future where digital transformation is not just a plan but a promise of progress for all women and the world.
