Presentation of Annual Report 2024 Advisory Council.

ORANJESTAD - On February 3, 2025, the Annual Report 2024 of the Advisory Council was presented to the Prime Minister by the President (Mr. D.G. Kock) and the Secretary (Mr. A. Braamskamp) of the Council.

As usual, the annual report provides insight into the tasks and activities of the Council and the Scientific Bureau of the Council in an open and transparent manner, as well as an overview of the advice issued in the year under review.

In the foreword, the chairman points out that, this time, the report completion coincided with the first phase of the negotiation process to arrive at a new cabinet formation. In this process, the National Ordinance Integrity of Ministers is applied for the first time. This national ordinance aims to provide transparency and thus lay the foundation for assessing the appointability of ministers regarding integrity aspects. Accuracy and transparency before, during, and after the appointment process are considered of great importance by the Council.

The theme of the annual report also focuses on “transparency. It has now become a tradition for the Council to pay special attention to a particular theme in the report. Because the Council considers transparency and clarity within the entire public service essential, early last year it already issued a comprehensive briefing with recommendations on the (re)design of the public service. Once again, with the theme of the annual report “Coherence, Clarity, and Transparency in a New Government Organization,” the Council hopes to contribute to the (re)design of a government in which coherence, clarity, and transparency predominate, the transition during changes of government is smooth and the continuity of the functioning of government services and service delivery is guaranteed.
