Negative travel advice for Venezuela
ORANJESTAD - The government of Aruba, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands continues to monitor developments in our neighboring country Venezuela over the past few months.
The situation in Venezuela remains a concern and is especially alarming in the border areas.
Areas of concern are marked on the map of Venezuela with red and orange color codes:
- The travel advisory color code is red for most border areas and large parts of northwestern, northeastern, and southern Venezuela. Whatever your situation, do not travel here. It is too dangerous there. Read more under Regional Risks.
- The color code orange applies to the capital, Caracas; Isla Margarita; the Los Roques archipelago; and large parts of central and southeastern Venezuela. Travel here only if necessary. It is not safe to vacation there.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands warns all persons of Dutch nationality and anyone residing legally in Aruba not to travel to Venezuela.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently received information about several incidents involving tourists in Venezuela. Among those most severely affected are tourists visiting relatives.
Persons with Dutch nationality and/or legally residing in Aruba who intend to travel to Venezuela or are already in Venezuela can register through the information service. In this way, the Kingdom of the Netherlands can get an overview of the number of people in Venezuela to keep everyone informed of any developments and to be able to give advice. If you travel directly to Venezuela, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands stresses that in case of an incident, assistance cannot be guaranteed, and consular assistance is considerably limited.
