ORANJESTAD - The lovely event, "Poet of the Homeland," opened the National Anthem and Flag Day celebration on March 12, with 16 participants reciting poetry honoring our nation, Aruba.
National Days Celebration Commission (CCDN), the Department of Culture Aruba (DCA), the Word Art Commission, and the Papiamento Corrector Foundation were in charge of the competition to name the 12th "Poet of the Homeland" of our country, which event is an initiative of Mr. Atan Lee in happy memory.
Outgoing Minister of Finance and Culture Xiomara Maduro congratulates Mr. John Freddy Montoya, named Aruba's "Poet of the Homeland" with his beautiful poem "Activa," and participants, especially the finalists Aurelia Croes, Gila Croes, and Dominico Werleman.
