Installation of public trash bins and 100 additional light posts as part of Oranjestad's revitalization

ORANJESTAD – Following the cleanup of Main Street in June, the installation of public trash bins and 100 additional light posts continues to contribute to the safety and cleanliness of our city center.

It is a further investment of 270,000 Florins in our city center. The light posts are in a classic style to maintain the area's character and provide more illumination than the previous models.

Revitalization efforts are not limited to Caya Betico Croes alone. Wilhelminastraat, Columbusstraat, and nearby areas have received attention, as although Oranjestad has not been at its best in recent years, this part has organically grown into a culinary cluster. The area will become a commercial and recreational activity hub, attracting residents and tourists. This week, phase 3 began with renovations in the parking area on Caya E. Harms and Irenestraat, further contributing to the area's growth and positive development. In Columbusstraat, the government installed more illumination, expanded space for pedestrians and parking, and planted trees to create a more pleasant environment.

The revitalization of Oranjestad also includes:

  • Restoration of historic buildings, preserving the cultural heritage of our island while promoting sustainable urban development;
  • Enhancement of the commercial prospects of the area, contributing to a more pleasant environment for both locals and tourists to visit.

The main objective is to create a safe, attractive, and dynamic environment for the community and visitors while ensuring that growth and development are sustainable and beneficial to the future of our island.
