High-Level Postal Forum in Washington D.C.
ORANJESTAD –The Minister of Economic Affairs, Communication and Sustainable Development, Geoffrey Wever, and the director of Post Aruba N.V., Mr. Guillermo Raymond, recently represented Aruba at the High-Level Postal Forum for Central America, the Caribbean, and other strategic countries, in Washington D.C.
The Union Postal de Las Americas, España y Portugal, and Universal Postal Union invited Minister Wever and Mr. Raymond for a debate on the postal sector reform on the global level.
The postal sector faces challenges in every country, and on the highest governmental level, a forum was organized to exchange ideas, debate, and agree on legislative and operational reforms. The international organizations proposed different forms to modernize the postal sector through legislation reforms and strategic alliances.
During the forum, they offered Aruba technical assistance to modernize its postal sector.
Considering the significance of this meeting on the governmental level of the member countries, the international postal organization covered all expenses, tickets, and hotel stays.
Minister Wever stated that it is up to Aruba to formally accept the offer for technical assistance and start its implementation. The government made important alliances and concrete commitments to work jointly in the international and national postal sector, which will benefit Post Aruba N.V. and the Aruban community.
