Health organizations must register every year!
ORANJESTAD - According to the Registry of Healthcare Providers (AB 2022 no. 79), all medical care practices, clinics, and companies must register yearly in the Registry of Medical Care Providers.
The re-registration is not yet in effect because, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Public Health's policy, healthcare providers were first allowed to register and properly go through the new process. It is now time to comply with the legal obligation. The registry of healthcare providers is the Article 2, paragraph 4 implementation of the National Ordinance on Quality in Medical Care. It requires registration as a medical care provider and compliance with specific conditions to remain registered. There must be a complaints procedure, and they must join a complaints committee with an independent chairperson. The chairperson cannot have a relationship with their practice/institution.

As of February 1, 2024, organizations without registration can no longer register a medical care provider to work with them. Medical care providers who have not yet registered will also oblige the Quality Institute to notify the Inspection of Public Health Aruba (IVA) of a violation of the law.
All medical care providers inscribed in 2023 must do it again. The re-registration itself will come into effect on March 31, 2024, and this means that medical providers must send an e-mail to josue.kelly@dvg.aw, ingrid.croes@dvg.aw, or kwaliteitsinstituut@dvg.aw with the following documents:
1. An overview of the changes in the following points during the last year:
a. The legal entity (name of the organization / legal form);
b. The board, director(s), shareholders, and care managers with a copy of their ID andregistration with the Chamber of Commerce.
c. Permit for establishment (for extension/other services).
d. Permit from the director or work and residence permit, if necessary.
e. Complaints procedure if the procedure or the committee has changed.
2. Insurance policy and coverage amount (in AWG) of the professional liability insurance for
3. your person (company/person/association) and those working in the organization.
4. Manpower plan for this year.
5. An annual quality report submitted to the IVA (2023).
6. A complete checklist of whether (still) complying with the quality requirements of the
7. National Ordinance on Quality in Medical Care (AB 2014 no. 74), the fully completed "re-
8. registration form for medical care providers," and signature.
Consequences:
Non-compliance and failure to re-register will result in being reported in the registry. The entity will receive a letter from the responsible minister stating non-compliance with the requirements. The Inspection of Public Health (IVA) and the UO AZV will also receive a copy of this letter.
It emphasizes that a valid registration as a medical care provider is crucial to ensure the trust of patients and stakeholders in high-quality care. If there are questions about the registration process or the required documents, contact the registration staff of the DVG.
The DVG is confident that all healthcare providers will take this matter seriously and comply timely with the required documents. Jointly, we can contribute to a healthcare system that meets high international quality standards.
