Green Globe certification

It reflects its continued commitment to sustainability, occupational health and safety, and innovation.
With an initial score of 78% of the entire Green Globe criteria, Aruba Airport received its first accreditation in 2022. Aruba Airport has since achieved 86%, demonstrating notable advancements in fulfilling the most stringent certification requirements. 
Green Globe is one of the leading certification programs for sustainable operations and travel and tourism management worldwide. AAA is proud to continue strengthening its sustainable efforts through these certification standards.

For 2024, AAA went through an on-site audit by an independent assurance auditor to pursue the recertification of Green Globe. This year’s audit included 225 criteria centered on Sustainable Management, Social/Economic, Cultural Heritage, and Environmental.

Throughout the past year, AAA introduced creative engagement strategies to increase awareness of sustainability efforts across staff, partners, and stakeholders. Key advancements included improved carbon accounting processes, expanded conservation initiatives, and a shift toward modern technology with paperless systems that enhance efficiency while reducing resource consumption. AAA has also strengthened its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, fostering positive community impact through partnerships and wellness efforts.

Additionally, construction projects at the airport have been aligned with LEED standards to ensure sustainable development. Enhanced safety measures, such as new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) installations and improved lockout systems, demonstrate AAA’s commitment to maintaining a safe environment for travelers and staff.

By embedding sustainability into AAA’s core values and continuously improving processes, AAA reinforces its role as a leader in responsible airport operations.
