Forms for income tax 2023 are on their way.
ORANJESTAD - In the coming day, customers already registered with the Tax Office (Departamento di Impuesto) will receive, as usual, a 2023 income tax return form by mail.
Official date
The official filing date is August. 9, 2024. By law, customers have two months to complete and submit the tax return form. Therefore, the deadline for filing the return is October 9, 2024.
Deadline extension
In addition to the statutory two-month deadline, the Tax Office gives an automatic two-month extension. In this case, the latest filing date is December 9, 2024. One does not need to apply for this.
Preparation of documents
To fill out the form carefully, one should use various documents such as annual income and expenses 2023, such as annual salary, benefits by way of pension from work, old age, widow's or orphan's pension, income from rent, sideline work, interest statement from a bank or other credit institution, life insurance, proof of gift donations, proof of expenses incurred on behalf of children studying abroad, etc.
Individuals with sole proprietorships must also prepare their 2023 financial statements, and if they cannot do so themselves, they can use an advisor.
Legal obligation
Completing and submitting the form is required by law. Failure to do so risks a levy with a penalty. By filing income tax, taxpayers can exercise their right to deduct certain expenses.
