Formateurs present coalition agreement to Governor.

ORANJESTAD - The Governor of Aruba, His Excellency Alfonso Boekhoudt, received the coalition agreement from Mr. Mike Eman and Mrs. Gerlien Croes on Tuesday, March 25.

In their role as formateurs, they regularly updated the Governor on the progress in executing the formation assignment during the past few weeks. After having been assessed on the basis of the National Ordinance on Integrity of Ministers, the formateurs concluded that the candidates to be nominated below are suitable for the office of minister. The formateurs discussed their conclusions on this matter with the Governor on March 25, 2025.

The formateurs have now formally accepted the formation assignment. In addition to presenting the coalition agreement, the formateurs informed Governor Boekhoudt about the portfolio distribution.

The following persons have been nominated by the formateurs to be appointed as ministers: 

Party AVP: 

  • Minister of General Affairs, Culture, Environment and Nature - Mr. Michiel G. Eman (Prime Minister) 
  • Minister of Justice, Integration and Public Transport - Mr. drs. Arthur L. Dowers 
  • Minister of Health, Social Affairs and Elderly Care and Addiction Care - Mrs. drs. Melvin G. Wyatt-Ras 
  • Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labour - Mr. Wendrick C. Cicilia 
  • Minister of Infrastructure, Energy and Telecommunications - Mr. drs. Arthur L. Dowers a.i. 

Party FUTURO: 

  • Minister of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation and Sport - Mrs. Gerlien L. Croes (Vice Prime Minister) 
  • Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector - Mr. mr. Geoffrey B. Wever

The forming parties have also nominated a candidate Plenipotentiary Minister, who will now be reviewed under the National Ordinance on Ministerial Integrity. 
After the draft national decrees for the dismissal of the sitting ministers and the appointment of the new ministers have been presented to the Governor, the Governor will ask the Chairman of the Parliament for the opinion of the Parliament on the intended dismissal and the intended appointment of the ministers. If the Parliament has no objections to the Governor's intention, the sitting ministers can be dismissed and the new ministers can be appointed and sworn in.

The swearing-in will take place on Friday, March 28, 2025, at a time to be determined.
