Food handlers health certificate
This is necessary for all individuals who work with food & beverage (drinks).
Food and nutritional safety fall under the responsibility of the Department of Public Health's Veterinary Service and Hygiene departments (VGD).
The Infectious Disease Service carries out surveillance of food handlers by conducting yearly screenings for pathogens that cause salmonellosis, shigellosis, or other foodborne diseases. If cleared by the screening, food handlers then receive a "green card" that certifies them to work in food establishments. The Infectious Disease Service works closely with the National Laboratory and the Department of Public Health's Epidemiology and Research Unit on the surveillance and control of foodborne diseases.
