Children Book Festival DUSHI CABESURA! from November 4 - 8, 2024
ORANJESTAD - Aruba National Library (BNA) invites all children to visit the National Library more to read various stories and books.
Stories with characters who are a bit rebellious, perhaps a little mischievous, about children who get their way, children who like to make their own decisions and love adventure. Read books for children with different characters and discover how fun it is to do things how you want to!
The library is presenting another edition of the Children's Book Festival. In 2024, the theme is ‘DUSHI CABESURA!’. Each year, the library gives a new theme to give the festival a different atmosphere, thus continuing to encourage children to read books.
The Children's Book Festival lasts a week in the first week of November. The festival opens with a big celebration on Sunday, November 3, 2024. From November 4 to 8, various authors from Aruba, the Netherlands, Curaçao, Bonaire, St. Maarten, and St. Eustatius will visit schools to tell stories in the classroom and at the library. Additionally, illustrators will give presentations on how they illustrate stories for children. This way, they aim to inspire children to read more, read together, and visit the library more often. Library membership is free for everyone under the age of 18.
During the festival week, a large group of children's book authors will visit more than 50 schools. From Aruba, these include: Liliana Braamskamp-Erasmus, Vanessa Paulina, Irmgard Frans, Emerita Emerencia, Ariana Koolman, Gino Vrolijk, and Robert Reeberg. From Bonaire, the library presents Segni Bernadina. From Curaçao, Tio Ali, Mercee Doran, and Crisen Schorea will participate. Danielle Schothorst, Maria Karg, and Sanne Rooseboom from the Netherlands will be present. Misha Spanner (known for storytelling) is participating in the festival in Aruba for the second time and comes from St. Eustatius. Ralph Cantave of St. Maarten will be present.
This group will visit schools to tell stories, talk about children's books, and encourage children to read more.
