Aruba Airport Authority N.V. announces the next phase of the Gateway 2030 Project

ORANJESTAD - Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA), manager and operator of Aruba Airport, announces the signing of a new contract with ABO Projects VOF, an alliance formed by Algemeen Bouwbedrijf “Albo Aruba” N.V. and Bouw- en Handelsmaatschappij “Bohama “Aruba N.V. 

This partnership will undertake the construction of Phase 1B, which will be a significant next step in the ongoing expansion and modernization of the terminal facilities of Aruba Airport.
Following the recent construction delivery of Phase 1A, which will be operational in early 2025, Phase 1B will commence on October 16, 2024.

This phase is expected to span approximately 24 months and will include:

  • Expansion and refurbishment of the existing hold room at Gate 8, further enhancing the passenger comfort and experience.
  • Construction of a new concourse with three new gates. It will include state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology to increase hold room and contact gate capacity and improve overall departure and arrival services.
  • New hold room areas for the new concourse and its gates, providing efficient space utilization for a seamless passenger flow.
  • Build a connector to link the existing airport building with the new concourse, ensuring easy access and connectivity between concourses.
  • The new concourse facility will include three new remote bus gates at the Ground Floor level, including roadways and ramp access for efficient remote bus operations.
  • Build additional infrastructure for retail and F&B Outlets in the new concourse, offering more last-minute shopping, food, and beverage options for the departing passengers.
  •  All of the above will include sustainability features, including solar panels, provisions for electrification of airside processes, and reuse of condensate water to promote eco-friendly practices.

AAA is excited to begin this next phase of the Gateway 2030 development project, as this will significantly enhance its ability to serve its airline partners, passengers, and the entire airport community. AAA is very proud to be kicking off this project with the involvement of local companies, which will provide more job opportunities in construction, engineering, and other related fields on the island.
