Announcement Voting Day
In implementation of article 38 paragraph 5 of our Electoral Ordinance, Minister of General Affairs, Mrs. mr. Evelyna Wever-Croes, announces that:
- The election for the members of Parliament Aruba will take place on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
The content of articles 2:43 to 2:47 of our Penal Code stipulates the following:
- Any person who, on the occasion of an election called by law, by violence or threat of violence, intentionally prevents someone from exercising his or another person's right to vote freely and unhindered, shall be punished with a prison sentence of up to four years or a fine of the fourth category.
- Any person who, on the occasion of an election called by law, by means of a gift or promise, bribes someone to exercise his or another person's right to vote, either not to exercise it or to exercise it in a certain way, shall be punished with a prison sentence of not more than two years or a fine of the fourth category. The same penalty shall be imposed on a voter or the proxy of a voter who allows himself to be bribed to someone by means of a gift or promise.
- Any person who deliberately poses as someone else and participates in an election called by law, shall be punished with a prison sentence of not more than two years or a fine of the fourth category.
- Any person who, on the occasion of an election called by law, deliberately frustrates a vote that has taken place or commits any fraudulent act as a result of which the vote has a different outcome than would have been obtained by the votes that were lawfully cast, shall be punished with a prison sentence of not more than four years or a fine of the fourth category.
