Acting Governor swears in Mrs. D.J. Jansen as Vice-President of the Joint Court of Justice.

ORANJESTAD - On Monday, February 3, 2025, the Acting Governor of Aruba, His Excellency Agustin Vrolijk, swore in Mrs. D.J. Jansen as Vice-President of the Joint Court of Justice with a seat in Aruba.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Cas Ceremonial di Gobernador, in the presence of, among others, the Minister of Justice, the President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, the President of the Joint Court of Justice, and the Attorney General of the Public Prosecution Service in Aruba.

The Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba provides jurisdiction in the first instance and on appeal on the islands. The Court of First Instance of Aruba is located in Aruba, and the hearings are also held there. The members of the Joint Court of Justice handle, in the first instance and on appeal, civil cases, criminal cases, and administrative cases (including tax cases).
