Results of the investigation on overweight and obesity

ORANJESTAD -  The Department of Public Health, in collaboration with the (World Health Organization (WHO) / Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), organized the National STEPS Survey 2023.

The STEPS 2023 goal was to collect information on our community health for the organizations in charge of managing public health to get an overview of the population's health and know the risk factors contributing to chronic diseases.

The purpose of STEPS 2023 was to gather data on community health so that public health management organizations could obtain a population health overview and identify risk factors contributing to chronic illnesses.

With an awareness of these risk factors, these organizations can develop new policies to enhance community health.

Regarding obesity and overweight, STEPS 2023 reports that 46% of Arubans are obese, and 33% are overweight. Chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure are caused by being overweight or obese.

With this newfound knowledge, it is time to adjust our habits for our health. Are you prepared to do it?
